    Description

    EXPLORING THE COLOR IMAGE
is a fascinating instructional booklet from Kodak for student filmmakers. After a couple of (short) chapters on light, color and vision, it goes into detail about properties of Kodak color film, and special opportunities and challenges of  color film photography.
Printed in 2000, much of the content was taken from other Kodak periodicals from 1950 and 1974, with additional text by USC professor and veteran cinematographer Woody Omens, ASC. His preface reads, "
If You Love Color, Read This.
    The book
    Color as Seen and Photographed
has been a Kodak classic for more than 45 years. It has been a little gem of a resource. Its greatness resulted from its simplicity. [Author Ralph Evans] took complex color ideas and made them understandable to everyone. The book was truly distinguished even among the heavyweight texts on the subject."
"So after years of being out of print, it was my dream to have
    Color as Seen and Photographed
come back in a new edition. As we began to revise it, we realized that it would be wiser to let the classic be."
"What you are about to read is not a revised edition. It is rather a selection of highlights from the original presented here with updates and clarifications to fit better into new technological times."
This is an interesting short (60 pages) spiral-bound booklet that would be especially interesting to filmmakers or filmmakers fascinated with shooting on "real film." I can't find it anywhere else -- Amazon, ABE, anywhere. It's labeled as Periodical H-188 with a printed price of .95
