The Beryozka gray camouflage jacket of the Airborne Forces has become a hallmark of the elite of the Russian Army - the Airborne Forces. This camouflage began to be supplied to the Armed Forces in the 1950s, was used by reconnaissance, special forces, and is still used by various units in post-Soviet countries. It is an optimum camouflage variant for summer operations in deciduous forests or swamps. For civilians, the Beryozka gray VDV is also one of the most popular camouflages.
The coloring of the camouflage suit (camouflage coat) is a rich green background, on which are scattered white-gray spots of complex configuration, reminiscent of tree leaves, with distinctive "pixel" edges. Small spots perfectly hide a person at close range, while large spots "smudge" the silhouette of a person at a large distance.
The Beryozka grey camouflage cover is made of a heavy smooth chemise weave fabric with a twill weave T/S 65/35, 130gr/m, which means that it contains 35 % cotton and 65 % polyester. Cotton makes the fabric breathable, and synthetic threads give strength and moisture repellent properties.
The suit consists of a jacket and pants. The jacket has patch pockets, hood with adjustment to the oval of the face, zipper, long sleeves with elastic bands at the cuffs. Pants on a wide elastic band at the waist, bottom of the pants the elastic band is narrower. Two slash pockets. The cut of the camouflage jacket is loose.
The official name of the Beryozka camouflage is KZM-P. It can be also found on the market under other "commercial" names: Silver Leaf of 1957 sample, Camouflage with deforming pattern of 1957 sample, "KLM" suit, "KLMK" suit, "White Leaf" suit.
