Vande Bharat with Bhim Army chief onboard attacked, window panes damaged

Stones were thrown at a Vande Bharat Express train early this morning, November 3, damaging a window pane while Bhim Army chief Chandra Shekhar Azad was on board, travelling from Delhi to Kanpur. The incident occurred around 7:12 am as the train passed Kamalpur station in Bulandshahr district of Uttar Pradesh.
In a post on X, Azad recounted the event, stating, “As soon as the train crossed Kamalpur station, some antisocial elements threw stones from outside, causing the glass near the passenger sitting two seats ahead of me to shatter. I was shocked and stunned by this incident.”

He expressed concern not only about the damage to government property but also for the safety of passengers, emphasising that such acts are “reprehensible and cannot be tolerated”.
“According to a report, the number of such incidents reached 1503 in the year 2022, causing a loss of crores of rupees to the Railways. This figure forces one to think why such incidents are happening again and again. Throwing stones on the train not only causes damage to property, but it can also prove fatal for the passengers,” he said in the post.
He added that people need to “understand that railways are a valuable asset of the country and its protection is the responsibility of all of us citizens of the country”.
“Such acts in society not only create a feeling of insecurity but also harm the image of our country,” Azad said.
Speaking to Indiatoday.in, the Bhim Army chief said that he was moved to C-14 coach of the train for his safety after the incident.
“This morning, while travelling from Delhi to Kanpur, I experienced a frightening incident at 7.11 am when someone threw stones at the Vande Bharat train I was on. I quickly contacted my security personnel to check if any other coaches had been targeted, and fortunately, none of the other bogies were affected. Following this, I was promptly moved from coach C-3 to C-14 for my safety,” the Bhim Army chief said.
